“Homo sapiens, the first truly free species, is about to decommission natural selection, the force that made us…. Soon we must look deep within ourselves and decide what we wish to become.”
— Edward O. Wilson, Consilience, The Unity of Knowledge

“Fear of enslavement by our creations is an old fear, and a literary tritism, but I fear something worse and much more likely - that sometime after 2020 our machines will become intelligent, evolve rapidly, and end up treating us as pets. We can at least take comfort that there is one worse fate - becoming food - that mercifully is highly unlikely.”
—Paul Saffo
“First we thought the PC was a calculator. Then we found out how to turn numbers into letters with ASCII — and we thought it was a typewriter. Then we discovered graphics, and we thought it was a television. With the World Wide Web, we’ve realized it’s a brochure.”
—Douglas Adams

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
Broccoli Waffles (courtesy Laura Sunday) - 4 cups oat flakes. Grind up to flour in Cuisinart
- 2 cups skim milk
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups broccoli or a big double handful of broccoli
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Spray waffle iron with Pam, heat it up. In Cuisinart combine oat flour, milk, eggs. Add broccoli and puree mixture. Add BP, BS, and vanilla. Let mixture sit for a few minutes. Cook waffles. Cool. Makes about 10.
Serving suggestion: Put in plastic bag in frig or freezer. Toast until crispy when ready for a yummy breakfast or lunch. Serve with combo of cut up fruit and syrup….I use Cary’s sugar free syrup.
